Upgrade Chemistry is owned and operated by Dr Matt J. Price.

Matt has a BA and MSci in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, during which they spent time performing organic and inorganic laboratory projects within local labs, and a PhD in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Birmingham. During their PhD they worked on the controlled catalytic depolymerisation of plastics such as Poly(Ethylene Terephthalate) (PET) and polyethylene (PE).

They have also worked in polymer synthesis for biomedical device applications, specifically antibiofilm and wound healing promoting polymers.

Most recently, they were investigating the mechanochemical depolymerisation of polyesters (such as PET) and polypropylene (PP).

Since then they have launched an independent consulting career: Upgrade Chemistry.
